- Somatic Effects - Occur in the in the individual can either be prompt or delayed
- Prompt Effects -Occur within hour or days of exposure to very high radiation doses
- Delayed Effects - Occur years after the exposure
- Genetic Effects - May occur in future children of exposed individuals or succeeding generations
- Teratogenic Effects - Risks of radiation exposure to the embryo/fetus
